Title: THE LITTLE HOUSE, 2024
Location:
Lippe bridge at the Cappeltor, Lippstadt
To mark the 20th anniversary of the “Lichtpromenade Lippstadt”, Claus Richter, a native of Lippstadt, realized the 20th light sculpture of the light art path along the Lippe.
“The Little House” rests on a platform about 150 cm high, 160 cm high and 110 cm wide, is reminiscent of a house in fairytale parks or miniature villages. Every evening, this house comes to life with a to life with a shadow play: A new neighbor has apparently moved in here, an enigmatic hermit, a magical wretch or gnome whose silhouette can be observed during evening activities in the “Little House”.
Idyll or hermit's hermitage? Home sweet home or house of horrors? Rituals of security or compulsive repetition? In the ambivalence, hidden behind colorful surfaces, Claus Richter's art finds its expression. His art is a game, also a game of hide-and-seek, an art of dealing creatively with loneliness and otherness, but it is also and above all a dream of consolation that insists on the right to deal with fairy tales, fables and fantasy, with memory and childhood, withoutabolishing or switching off the head and reflection of the adult.
