Title: "IMPULS-Bergkamen", 12/ 2010
Location: Bergehalde „Großes Holz"

“IMPULS-Bergkamen” (12/ 2010) is a “dynamic 33-metre-high light sculpture”, equipped with 14,400 LED bulbs and a pulsating light effect. Positioned on the “Adener Höhe” (“Großes Holz” spoil tip, access via Erich-Ollenhauer-Straße/Jahnstraße), the town’s highest point, the IMPULS shines out not only in Bergkamen, but also across the region from dusk until late at night (1 a.m.).

The light sculpture was developed for the tip by the artists Maik and Dirk Löbbert as a “memorial to Bergkamen’s miners and a monument to all pitmen worldwide”. It is a “symbol for the post-mining era” and the positive spirit of identifying new possibilities and forms, of not stagnating but confidently continuing to evolve.
